Sad to know too that pet-friendly homes are hard to find. I have 3 so I can just imagine the challenge as well as the deposit that we need to pay.

Thank you for sharing this information. Very helpful in managing our expectations.

I love the way you have explained the difference between the two areas and what to expect of them . Having multiple real estate people for the same property is not too new to me as we do have similar stuff in India. But it definitely is something to be extra careful about

But great to know that you got to rent a condo with a marina view, a pent house and a studio with varying rents. Discussing different real estate agents for a single property is really crazy and paying huge amount for pets. But when you like a place and you’re a nomad it’s really worth it at the end of the day!

I’m surprised about the difficulty of the rental market, and the further difficulty because you are looking for pet friendly places too. The requirements up front are almost seen as deterrent. But happy to know you landed in a good spot with your pups.

We had a few US rentals and didn’t require that (that I remember, at least!). It’s good to know that requirements vary from place to place within Mexico!

I know that many places around the world, my country included, has a shortage of houses, but 1 house for each 8 people searching for one is insane. I struggled with finding a pet friendly landlord as well, and I only have one cat. I wouldn’t have been successful for sure with 2 dogs. It’s such an annoyance that you have to pay a deposit for your pets as well.

And would not have been surprised to find scarce vacancies. But it was more interesting to read about the other things that people want for rentals. Although I understand that criminal background checks may help to weed out undesirable renters. I would always want to understand utility costs – but mostly because this is a huge factor in may places here in Canada. A great guide for people looking to rent in Los Cabos.

I am surprised by the huge difference in price between the townhouse you rented in Cabo San Lucas and the apartment two blocks away. Also, it’s almost unbelievable to rent a place without a water heater and that you had to pay for it yourself. Plus, the background checks, paying 12 months rent at one time, and the competitiveness of being chosen to rent — all of this might make someone seriously question their desire to live here. But, knowing these things in advance, thanks to you, will make it so much easier to navigate the housing marketing in Los Cabos!
