I have made two transfers so far. It is not easy. I never get my photo correct on the first try. Next comes mention of tokens or acceptance of automatically generated code. A SMS code briefly on the screen, which has to be added. After failure, the message on the screen says I need to call a number. I have heard that there is a phone line for English speaking foreigners. I have not been able to find that. If anyone has the number, I would appreciate knowing what it is.

This only just happened as I was getting in fine on my phone without photo id. Now it will not let me in,
I have gone into the bank they cannot get me in either as they have photoed me lots of times but it never works.
I finally came to the concludion that if I am going to get any control whatsoever I would like an online account added to what I have, butttt I dont speak spanish and noone seems to be able to help me anymore because there is noone there who speaks english, There was when I opened my account but no more.
I dont what to do as I cannot keep records of any transactions.

For that, I think you need to go to the bank. I forgot my password once and they said the only way to do it is to go to the bank branch. I hope this answers your question!

Hola Daniel Hepburn, what do you need a nomina account for? It is required for your job? I don’t think they will give you a nomina acct as a temporary resident. If you got a job in Mexico perhaps you can switch to a work visa? They’re always more lenient with working visas than temporary visas. The temporary visa is really restricted and I’ve had that for 4 years.

Thanks for the info in your article. I ran into a problem and was wondering if you have advise. I have temporary residency and got a job. I have to open a nomina account. All of the banks I am going to won’t open a nomina account unless I am a permanent resident. Do you know if any banks will help a temporary resident? Thanks for your time.

Hi Ben! You can do international transfers instantly with Wise. I wrote a review about it including steps on how to do it. I also used my Mexican bank as a sample there. It works like magic! In Europe, we also use Revolut but I don’t think that’s widely used in the US? I hope this answers your question!

My friend who works over there also reccomended BBVA. It’s useful to know you need the visa first, I feel this is more common now, but there are still some countries that allow you to get accounts beforehand for travelling or as long as you have an address to register to.

I remember when I moved from Europe to the U.S. how the simplest things felt so complicated. And there was always a document or paper missing when I thought I had followed all the rules. Getting started in a new country is a struggle.

It’s like they don’t have to find information themselves. Just read this article and follow the step-by-step you provided. (I wonder whether going to the bank is like a hobby for people in Mexico. 😉
