Airbnb charges a lit especially if you consider that most digital nomads are not renting for a couple of days but for a couple of months.

Whatalso surprises me is that Mexico City actually has many safe and pleasant neighbourhoods, it’s not just the crazy expensive La Condesa, La Roma and Santa Fe that can be nice to live in. On the contrary if you’d like to feel and experience Mexico City, I would recommend other neighbourhoods. You’ll get more bang for your buck and are not trapped in an expat-/ business bubble.

But wherever you decide to rent or buy, CDMX is a great place to be!

Come again? Maybe in the Centro Histórico. In the rest of the city they’re all from the 1950s on to the present day. I really, REALLY wish that you digital nomads would discover that there are so many other areas outside of the Roma/Condesa/Polanco bubble. I’ve lived in Portales Oriente (a/k/a Miravalle), a tiny colonia in the mid-south of the city, since 1983 (Yes, that’s a long time; but then again, I’ve lived in Mexico since 1978). I love my colonia, even though it’s not filled with hipster-trendy-wannabes. It’s well-communicated, I have everything I need in terms of services, and it’s not at all difficult or time-consuming to get to more central colonias. And like Portales Oriente, there are numerous other areas in the city in which one can live very well.

I am surprised that so many landlords refuse to rent to people with pets. That was my issue as well in England and I was so lucky to find the house I am in now, with the landlord accepting pets. I think the rent in Mexico City is quite affordable, and you get so much more for your money than in other countries. A four-bed apartment costs the same as a studio on the outskirts of London.

So it’s a perfect article for me, as I plan to visit the capital of Mexico in September or October. I like your Mexico City apartments guide with tips on where to find them and prices and neighborhoods. I will use your suggestions and recommendations when I know my travel dates.

Renting out an apartment in Mexico seemed easier after reading your blog. It is sad to know how it was badly hit by COVID, but it also gives an opportunity for travelers to rent an apartment easily there. It is nice if the utilities and bills are included in the rent. I was surprised to know that do not ask for passports sometimes or any ID. It was a great read overall, and I hope you have a great time there.

Sad to hear how badly covid affected the city, though with rents low, it makes it a good time to visit for an extended stay! Good to know that most apartments are in older colonial buildings, which hopefully means they should have good high ceilings, and lots of windows for light.

She has visited Mexico City before, and loved it. Unfortunately I have never been to Mexico City, but would love to go. The prices seem very steep at $1,200 USD for an apartment but guessing you would be paying for the location, instead of the actual apartment. Don’t know if I could handle apartment life as always lived in houses. Never know I might love it like yourself.
