It’s great that you are giving recommendations where tourists can stay while traveling alone to feel safe and at the same time have the possibility to meet new people. I have stayed in hostels worldwide many times, and I like this form of accommodation mainly because you can meet people similar to our interests and often spend time together and visit a given place. I haven’t been to Oaxaca yet, but it’s on my list because I plan a six-month stay in Mexico. As the accommodation price will be important, I am willing to use the hostel. La Villada Inn , Posada Don Mario and Casa Anghel Hostel seems great for me.

Your post brought back the fond memories of my 3-week stay in a small town near Oaxaca city. Although I never stayed in the Oaxaca city but been there many times. I really enjoyed exploring the city and trying Oaxacan cuisine.

Hostelworld is definitely the best. Earlier, when I used to travel solo, I did use Hostelworld extensively. Casa Anghel is nice. Breakfast for free at that price? Whoa! Awesome. I love the vibe of Ticuchi and Azul Cielo. Totally my kinda place to stay. Good to know even fleamarkets at a walkable distance.

What clean hostels and so well located too. I can see why Casa Anghel Hostel Oaxaca was chosen as the one in 2021 by LonelyPlanet. I like the sound of Hostel central too – the layout looks clean and location as the name suggests. Perfect for that backpacking trip.

This is an extremely informative blog since I travel mostly on a budget and this is a perfect guide for the same since not only the pricing is pretty decent but also, they look neat and clean. Also, it’s really nice that you mentioned how one can know if their hostel is well located, it’s one of the most important things when travelling solo. Definitely bookmarking this for future use!

A very informative blog post! My choice would be the best – Casa Anghel. I love that they have Yoga sesseions and salsa dancing in addition to walking tours. I have not been to Mexico yet, but will keep this hostel in mind when I go. Dos Lunas looks like a good option too especially with the views and airconditioning (needed in Mexico). 🙂

I like the hostels in this list. Not just price wise, but they look nice and clean, too. Their locations are perfect as well. You really know the best budget accommodations for solo travelers in Oaxaca.
